An assistant to the mayor of a mahalla citizens' assembly in the Uchtepa district of Tashkent has been caught receiving a bribe of $30,000 from a citizen. The incident was reported by UzA.

The law enforcement operation, conducted urgently in Tashkent, led to the assistant's arrest with material evidence. The citizen had sought assistance in securing business opportunities through connections with individuals in high-ranking positions. In exchange for $30,000, the assistant helped the individual acquire 210 square meters of land through an auction, which was subsequently registered in their name.

Further investigation revealed that the assistant had a criminal history, having been previously convicted three times under various articles of the Criminal Code, including those related to embezzlement, fraud, and abuse of official authority.

A criminal case has now been opened against the assistant under Article 168 (Fraud), Part 4, Clause "a," and Article 28,211 (Bribery), Part 3, Clause "a" of the Criminal Code. A preventive measure of arrest has been applied.

This arrest follows the recent detention of an investigator from the Almazar district prosecutor's office in Tashkent, who was caught with a $20,000 bribe.
