A new international airport will be constructed in the Tashkent region. On August 1, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was briefed on major projects in the transport sector, including this development.
It was noted that by 2030, the number of air passengers traveling to Tashkent is expected to reach 15 million. However, the current airport does not have the capacity to handle such volume, and due to its location within the city, expansion is not feasible.
“Therefore, it is planned to build a new international airport in the Tashkent region. Proposals from foreign companies for public-private partnerships are currently being considered,” the Presidential Press Service stated.
During the presentation, officials provided detailed information on all aspects of the project.
It was also noted that the construction of alternative roads is being planned to ensure convenience for motorists. In this context, a new version of the Law “On Motorways” has been developed to create a more attractive environment for investors. Based on this, several companies from partner countries have expressed interest in constructing an alternative expressway between Tashkent and Samarkand.
Officials reported on the outcomes of negotiations with these companies and shared their proposals. The President emphasized the importance of carefully designing these strategic infrastructures and transitioning to the implementation phase as soon as possible.
It should be recalled that earlier, it was reported that 511 billion soums were allocated for the renovation of the bridge located in front of Tashkent International Airport.
