On March 4, a high-priority meeting focused on ensuring public safety and stabilizing the crime rate in Tashkent was held at the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent city. During the meeting, it was announced that Colonel Ravshan Erkinovich Sultonkhojaev has been appointed as the new head of Tashkent's Main Department of Internal Affairs (DIA). This decision was made through an order by the Minister of Internal Affairs.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the meeting was attended by officials from the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, Minister of Internal Affairs General Major Aziz Toshpulatov, sector leaders of the capital, and heads of law enforcement agencies.
Before his new appointment, Sultonkhojaev served as the head of the Internal Affairs Department in the Khorezm region.
The meeting also discussed various directives issued by the President regarding crime prevention in neighborhoods, ensuring public safety, and fostering stability within communities. It reviewed the recent performance of the internal affairs system and established tasks for further improving the operations of law enforcement.
Specific issues, such as combating crime in Tashkent, implementing public safety measures, preventing legal violations in advance, and ensuring discipline and legality within law enforcement, were critically analyzed during the session. Measures to address identified shortcomings were determined, and the new head of Tashkent's MIA was assigned relevant responsibilities.
It is worth noting that Aziz Toshu‘latov, Sultonkhojaev's predecessor in the role, was recently approved by the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis as the new Minister of Internal Affairs. Pulat Bobojonov, who had served as Minister since 2017, has been reassigned as Deputy Advisor to the President on Personnel Policy.
