Authorities have identified cases in which unknown individuals have created fake social media accounts using the name of Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov and are sending messages to citizens. The accounts use the mayor’s photograph as well as his name and surname. In response, the Tashkent city administration has issued a warning.
According to the statement, all such accounts opened in the name of the Tashkent mayor that engage in private correspondence or contact citizens with various requests or proposals are fake. Citizens are strongly advised not to trust these accounts and to refrain from communicating with them, as they are operated by fraudsters.

“It should be emphasized that the Tashkent mayor or officials affiliated with the city administration do not send personal messages to citizens for communication purposes,” the statement said.
The city administration added that if any official page or communication channel is launched, information about it will be announced in advance exclusively through the official information channels of the Tashkent city administration’s press service.
Citizens are also advised not to share personal information with unknown individuals and to report suspicious messages or accounts to relevant law enforcement agencies.
It is worth noting that earlier, an unidentified individual in Bukhara region was found to have created a fake Telegram account in the name of the head of a prominent regional organization in an attempt to obtain money through fraudulent means.
