The number of countries that have announced a boycott of the World Men’s Boxing Championship, which will be held in Tashkent in May this year, has reached 12.

Initially, the United States, Poland, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Canada, Ukraine, Germany, and Norway announced a boycott of the World Cup because athletes from Russia and Belarus were permitted to participate in the tournament under their flags.  Later, Great Britain joined them.  At first, the British Boxing Federation boycotted the Women’s World Championship held in the capital of India, New Delhi, and after a while, they made the same decision for the men’s tournament.

The World Senior Boxing Championship will be held from 1 May to 14 May.

It should be recalled that in March, the champion of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Bahadir Jalolov, gave an interview to QALAMPIR.UZ and expressed his reaction to the boycott of the competition by many countries.  Jalolov noted that the absence of many favorite participants in the tournament will not affect the progress of Uzbek boxers towards the main goal.
