Due to a significant decline in the use of cash payments, cash desks at 13 metro stations in Tashkent will be closed. This was announced by the Tashkent Metropolitan Administration.
Previously, 45–50% of metro passengers used single-use tickets with QR codes. However, that number has dropped sharply to 6–7%, prompting a review of ticket purchasing patterns at cash desks.
As a result of a long-term observational analysis, it was decided to close one lobby cash desk each at the following stations:
“Mirzo Ulugbek,” “Xalqlar Do‘stligi,” “Pakhtakor,” “Hamid Olimjon,” “Pushkin,” “Do‘stlik,” “Tashkent,” “Oybek,” “Tinchlik,” “Shahriston,” “Bodomzor,” “Minor,” and “Abdulla Qodiriy.”
Automated ticket ATMs are being installed on a trial basis at the locations of the closed cash desks. Passengers can continue to make payments using **bank cards, mobile applications, palm scanners, and other electronic payment methods.
It is worth recalling that, since January 1, cash fares for public transportation in Tashkent (including buses and metro) have increased. The maximum fare per trip is 3,000 soums, while the standard one-time fare is 1,700 soums when paid through an electronic payment system, with incentive discounts applied.
