Shavkat Umurzakov was confirmed as mayor of Tashkent

On November 6, at the inaugural session of the seventh convocation of the Tashkent City Council of People's Deputies, Shavkat Umurzakov was officially confirmed as the mayor of Tashkent.

The Tashkent city press service reported this decision, which followed the recent elections held on October 27.

Abdulla Magrupov, Chairman of the Tashkent Regional Election Commission, provided details on the election results, noting that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev had nominated Umurzakov for the position.

During the session, Rustam Abduhakimovich Kalonov was elected as Chairman of the Tashkent City Council of People's Deputies.

The council also registered the elected deputies' party groups and approved the Regulations for the Council and its Standing Committees.

This confirmation follows similar approvals for the governors of Samarkand, Khorezm, Navoi, Jizzakh, Bukhara, and Tashkent regions.
