22764In Uzbekistan, drivers who exceed the speed limit by more than 60 kilometers per hour will now face a fine of 5,625,000 soums. This measure was introduced under the law “On Amendments and Supplements to the Criminal, Criminal Procedure Codes of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Code of Administrative Responsibility in Connection with the Improvement of the Road Safety System”, which was adopted on February 20.
The law amended Article 128-3 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, adjusting the penalties for speeding violations as follows:
- Exceeding the speed limit by 20-40 km/h → Fine of 1,875,000 soums (5 times the base calculation amount).
- Exceeding the speed limit by 40-60 km/h → Fine of 3,375,000 soums (9 times the minimum wage).
- Exceeding the speed limit by more than 60 km/h → Fine of 5,625,000 soums (15 times the minimum wage).
Previously, fines for speeding were set at:
- +20 km/h → 375,000 soums
- +20-40 km/h → 1,875,000 soums
- 40+ km/h → 3,375,000 soums
There was no separate fine for exceeding 60 km/h, which is now penalized more strictly.
The law also specifies that when determining a violation, a 5 km/h margin of error will be deducted from speed readings recorded by radar and speed detection devices.
Additionally, individuals who continue driving after having their license revoked will now face criminal liability if they commit repeat offenses following an administrative penalty.
These stricter penalties aim to enhance road safety and reduce high-speed violations across the country.
