Driver's licenses of speeding drivers remain non-confiscated

9669Regardless of how many times drivers in Uzbekistan exceed the speed limit, RPS employees will not confiscate their driver's licenses. This change is outlined in a decision by the Cabinet of Ministers on amendments and additions aimed at ensuring traffic safety on highways, adopted on July 17 of this year.
The decision amends paragraph 31 of the regulation on the procedure for the interaction of Road Patrol Service employees with road users and the use of special devices.
Previously, when using portable photo radar and mobile complexes, RPS employees were required to increase the speed of movement to match the device's indicators, inform the driver of the violation, and, upon request, show the device's certificate (or a copy). Now, the procedure for issuing fines for violations detected by portable photo radar and mobile complexes will be the same as for violations recorded by stationary photo and video recording devices. This means that an administrative report is not drawn up, and the offending driver does not take part in the decision to impose a fine. Repeated offenses are also not considered.
Thus, increased fines for repeated speeding offenses are practically not applicable in any case.
We remind you that from January 1, 2024, old-style driver's licenses will be considered invalid.
