2335Telegram is considering opening a branch in Uzbekistan, according to a report on the company's LinkedIn page.
A vacancy for the position of office director in Uzbekistan has already been posted, signaling the company’s interest in expanding its presence in the country.
This development follows Telegram founder Pavel Durov’s visit to Uzbekistan during the summer, where he met with government officials.
"Uzbekistan loves Telegram. More than 70 percent of the country’s population of 37 million use this platform, and the entire economy operates through the platform we created. Every business they create has its own Telegram bot or channel. We are proud of our popularity and always love the people of this country." During his trip, Durov highlighted Uzbekistan's strong preference for Telegram.
Earlier, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry announced plans to open a Telegram representative office in their country. This is part of a broader move in Kazakhstan to ensure that major platforms like Telegram, WhatsApp, and TikTok have official representatives under new legislative requirements to enhance content control and improve user security.
