UNESCO has officially included the 100th anniversary of Tavakkal Qodirov’s birth in the list of international anniversaries to be commemorated in 2026–2027. This was reported by the Dunyo news agency.
Uzbekistan’s proposal to include the 100th anniversary of Tavakkal Qodirov’s birth in UNESCO’s list of international anniversaries for 2026–2027 was approved at the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference held in Samarkand. The initiative was supported by Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, and Turkmenistan.
Tavakkal Qodirov, a highly respected figure of the Uzbek people and an artist of unique talent, was born on 10 June 1926 in the village of Sultonobod, Quva district, Fergana region.
In 1989, he was awarded the honorary title of People’s Artist of Uzbekistan for his significant contribution to the development of Uzbek vocal art. Over the course of his career, Tavakkal Qodirov headed the Fergana State Philharmonic for many years. Through his songs, he gained wide recognition across Central Asia. More than one hundred of his songs have become part of the golden fund of Uzbek art.
The singer performed and created songs in many languages of the world, including Persian, Hindi, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Uyghur, and Arabic.
