Norboeva and Kurtulmush discuss expanding bilateral partnership

4971On April 24, Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Norboeva, arrived in Ankara, Turkey. During her visit, she met with Numan Kurtulmush, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, according to the Senate's press service.
During the discussions, both parties emphasized that Uzbekistan-Turkey relations have reached the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership, thanks to the firm political will and friendship between the leaders of both nations. They underscored the increasingly active role of parliamentary cooperation in deepening interstate relations. The conversation also highlighted the importance of parliamentary oversight in implementing high-level agreements and the need to strengthen ties between relevant committees and friendship groups.
The meeting also stressed the expansion of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, particularly in education and tourism, as well as experience exchanges between youth and regions. Additionally, the sides discussed deepening ties among the parliaments of Turkic-speaking countries within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States.
At the end of the meeting, an agreement on parliamentary cooperation was signed between Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis and Turkey’s Grand National Assembly.
"This document will elevate parliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkey to a new qualitative level. It envisions mutual exchange of experiences, close cooperation in the legislative process, and enhanced collaboration in key sectors—including politics, economy, culture, education, youth affairs, and sports. These efforts will not only strengthen friendly relations between the two countries but also serve as an important diplomatic step toward ensuring stability and development across the region," the statement read.
On the same day, members of the delegation also toured the parliamentary library, which houses books and publications dedicated to Uzbekistan's history, culture, and contemporary progress. Tanzila Norboeva signed the Honorary Guests' Book at Turkey’s Grand National Assembly, reaffirming the importance of deepening parliamentary ties between the two nations.
Additionally, Norboeva visited Anitkabir, the memorial complex of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the first President of Turkey. She laid flowers at Atatürk’s tomb, honoring his legacy, and left a message in the Honorary Guests' Book.
