Thailand cancels visa requirements for Uzbeks

Thailand has expanded its list of countries whose citizens do not need a visa to visit, increasing the total to 93. This list now includes Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan from Central Asia, according to a report by the "Bangkok Post," citing Thai government spokesman Chai Wacharong.

New regulations will allow foreign students to stay in Thailand for an additional year after graduation.

The number of countries and territories with visa-free access to Thailand has risen from 57 to 93. New additions to the list include Albania, India, Kazakhstan, China, Mexico, Romania, and Uzbekistan. Tourists can now stay for up to 60 days without a visa.

Furthermore, the number of countries eligible for visas on arrival has increased from 19 to 31.

The "Bangkok Post" also reported that tourists wishing to combine vacation and work in Thailand can apply for a visa allowing a 180-day stay, with a possibility of a five-year extension. Foreign students may stay in the country for an additional year post-graduation to seek employment.

Since the start of 2024, Thailand has welcomed 14.3 million foreign visitors. The highest number of tourists came from China (2.8 million), followed by Malaysia (1.9 million), Russia, India (810,000), and South Korea (786,000). In 2023, Thailand received 1.48 million Russian tourists, matching pre-pandemic levels.
