Judge's report leads to arrest of lawyer offering $1,000 bribe

A lawyer in the Surkhandarya region was arrested for offering a bribe to a judge in exchange for satisfying a complaint related to a criminal case. This was reported by the Supreme Council of Judges.

It was revealed that the criminal case involved Sh.H., who had been found guilty by the first-instance court under Article 168, Part 4 (Clause "a") of the Criminal Code and whose sentence was left unchanged by the appellate instance. The lawyer offered $1,000 in bribes to the judge (rapporteur on the case) to influence the decision regarding the supervisory complaint.

Despite being informed that the supervisory complaint would be legally reviewed, the lawyer repeatedly attempted to offer a bribe. Consequently, the judge submitted a report, and authorized agencies conducted an operation, leading to the lawyer’s arrest with material evidence.

Note: Previously, in the Andijan district of Andijan region, the head of the district department of the Cadastral Agency was caught during illegal activities with $10,000 in bribe money.
