Student discipline incident in Surkhandarya sparks investigation

11211A video circulating on social media has revealed an incident in Surxondaryo region where a teacher physically disciplined a student during class. The regional Department of Preschool and School Education has stated the matter.
The incident occurred on January 23 at School No. 4 in Sho‘rchi district. During a history lesson for 8th-grade students, teacher Kh.D. reprimanded student B.B. for disrupting the class. The situation escalated, leading to the teacher physically disciplining the student.
Following the incident, the school administration held a preventive discussion with the student’s parents, emphasizing the importance of addressing the child’s behavior and ensuring such incidents do not recur. Teacher X.D. subsequently resigned from their position voluntarily.
According to the department, the student involved, B.B., has a prior criminal record under Article 169 (Theft) of the Criminal Code and is currently under preventive supervision by the district’s Internal Affairs Department.
It is worth noting that a similar case was reported earlier in Marg‘ilon, Farg‘ona region, where a teacher was disciplined for physically assaulting a student. Appropriate measures were taken against the teacher for actions deemed unprofessional.
