IBF welterweight champion Jaron Ennis (33-0, 29 KOs) and WBA titleholder Eimantas Stanionis (15-0, 9 KOs) are in discussions for a unification bout, according to the Professional Boxing Federation of Uzbekistan.

“I hope we can finalize the deal,” stated Eddie Hearn, Ennis’s promoter.

Stanionis has only fought twice since 2022, while Uzbek boxer Shakhram Giyasov remains the mandatory challenger for his WBA title. The WBA has officially mandated a fight between Stanionis and Giyasov, and negotiations between their teams are ongoing. Notably, Eddie Hearn also promotes Giyasov, adding another layer of intrigue to the situation.

It is worth mentioning that earlier reports indicated Giyasov faced disciplinary action for training with a muzzled bear.
