Emergency teams are formed to help farmers in the cold

In order to prevent the negative impact of the cold weather on gardens and vineyards including early potatoes and vegetables in Uzbekistan, emergency teams have been established throughout the country to assist farmers. The Ministry of Agriculture reported this.

According to the report, the operational group together with scientists of the region, will generate recommendations substantiated scientifically on the protection of gardens, vineyards, and on the retaining of agricultural crops sown in the «to’qsonbosti» (ninetieth) method in the early-spring fields.  (This is the method of sowing seeds in the middle of winter with an intention to get crops as fast as possible in the spring) and implement them.

The republican staff is headed by the Minister of Agriculture Jamshid Khojaev, and the regional branches—by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and governors of the regions and the city of Tashkent.
