In collaboration with the Asian Development Bank, the International Finance Corporation, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and other partners, Uzbekistan will implement five projects in the healthcare sector worth a total of $1.2 billion. Additionally, six projects worth $745 million will be carried out in the preschool and school education sector, while $100 million will be allocated for projects in higher education.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced these plans on February 28 during a presentation on the effective organization of public-private partnership (PPP) projects in the social sector.

As part of this initiative, multidisciplinary modern clinics will be built in Tashkent, Fergana, Bukhara, Andijan, and Samarkand. Additionally, non-medical services in regional central hospitals will be transferred to the private sector.

Discussions also covered the involvement of private enterprises in certain cultural and sports activities.

"So far, 43 cultural centers have been transferred to the private sector, and the possibility of transferring an additional 127 has been identified," the report states.

Furthermore, it was emphasized that vacant swimming pools, gymnasiums, and sports fields should be renovated and health services expanded. To facilitate this, a proposal was made to simplify the process of transferring cultural and sports facilities to private partnerships.

The head of state approved the "roadmaps" developed by the ministries of the social sector and local governments, issuing orders to ensure their implementation and accelerate public-private partnership projects.
