A criminal group consisting of employees of a former body was arrested

Law enforcement officers of Kazakhstan stopped the activities of a criminal group in the Karaganda region and arrested 40 people.  This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan today, 6 March.

It is noted that yesterday, on 5 March, the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry and the fifth division of the National Security Committee conducted a special operation in cooperation.  They put an end to the activities of the criminal group, which has been negatively affecting the criminal situation in the Karaganda region for a long time.

According to the information of the administration, the members of the criminal community broke the public order and organized fights with each other several times with the help of firearms.  About 50 active members of the group included former law enforcement and security organizations.  A unique hierarchy has been formed between the leader and members of the group.  As a result of the conducted special and quick-search activities, a multi-level system of inventory theft was exposed in large industrial facilities in this area, including “Arcellor Mittal Temirtau” joint-stock company.

In addition, the members of this group were found to be involved in several unsolved serious and extremely serious crimes (extortion, grievous bodily harm, murder).

During the special operation, more than 100 searches were conducted, 9 firearms, about 200 rounds of ammunition, grenade launchers, TNT, grenades, forged documents and seals, religious literature, large amounts of money, and immovable properties are defined.  Also, 40 criminals were brought to the internal affairs bodies.

A rapid investigation is ongoing.
