1777It was discovered that the state unitary enterprise "Toza Hudud," which provides household waste transportation services in the Syrdarya region, had overcharged around 150,000 consumers by a total of 528.6 million sums. This was reported by the Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights.
According to the report, a study and analysis of compliance with legal requirements in household waste transportation services during the first half of 2023 and 2024 revealed that the district and city branches of "Toza Hudud" failed to provide services according to schedule in various neighborhoods (neighborhood citizen's assemblies). As a result, excess payments were collected from residents. For instance, the Guliston district branch of "Toza Hudud" was found to have overcharged 9,158 residents across three neighborhoods by a total of 46.1 million sums.
Similar cases of overcharging were identified in the following areas:
- 76.9 million sums in 12 neighborhoods (32,329 residents of Aqoltin district);
- 95.6 million sums in 9 neighborhoods (27,949 residents of Boyovut district);
- 73.1 million sums in 9 neighborhoods (17,307 residents of Khovos district);
- 67.3 million sums in 7 neighborhoods (19,833 residents of Sirdarya district);
- 86.3 million sums in 3 neighborhoods (14,464 residents in the city of Yangiyer);
- 5.2 million sums in 3 neighborhoods (8,984 residents in Sardoba district);
- 33.2 million sums in 3 neighborhoods (7,620 residents in the city of Shirin);
- 31.1 million sums in 1 neighborhood (4,148 residents in Mirzaabad district);
- 13.6 million sums in 1 neighborhood (3,069 residents of Saykhunabad district).
In total, "Toza Hudud" overcharged 144,861 consumers by a total of 528.6 million sums across 51 neighborhoods.
In light of these findings, a case was initiated against "Toza Hudud" in accordance with Article 21 of the Law "On Protection of Consumer Rights" for violating the requirement that they cannot charge for services not provided. Mandatory instructions were issued to recalculate the 528.6 million sums in favor of the 144,861 affected consumers.
We also remind you that a previous case was initiated against UzAuto Motors. A Gentra car, produced by the factory, caught fire less than five months after being sold due to a malfunction. UzAuto Motors and its dealer were given appropriate instructions regarding violations of the law in the delivery of vehicles.
