Unofficial summit of OTS state leaders commences in Shusha

5181An informal summit of the heads of state from the Organization of Turkic States has commenced in Shusha, Azerbaijan, as announced by the press service of Azerbaijan's President.
Attending this high-level gathering is President Ilhom Aliyev of Azerbaijan, President Kasim-Jomard Tokayev of Kazakhstan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan, President Sadir Japarov of Kyrgyzstan, Vice President Jevdet Yilmaz of Turkey, Secretary-General Kubanichbek Omuraliev of the OTS, and Ersin Tatar, the leader of the Turkish Republic of Cyprus (observing as a non-recognized state except by Turkey). Also participating is Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
The theme of the summit is "Building a Sustainable Future through Transport Connectivity and Combating Climate Change."
Discussions will focus on enhancing the Middle Corridor and other transport routes, as well as preparations for the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 29), scheduled to be hosted by Azerbaijan from November 11-22.
The summit is expected to result in several joint agreements under the OTS framework and the initiatives of the Karabakh Declaration.
Today, July 6, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan met with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban as part of the OTS informal summit.
