Russian boxer Vsevolod Shumkov has said he is ready to face Abdumalik Khalokov again in Tashkent following their bout at the IBA World Championships in Dubai. The report was published by All Boxing.

According to Eduard Kravtsov, head of the coaching council of the Russian Boxing Federation, the IBA has expressed readiness to organize a rematch between the two boxers as part of one of the IBA.PRO tournaments.

“I believe an objective decision was made. I know that IBA President Umar Nazarovich Kremlev is ready to organize a rematch and give both athletes the opportunity to determine the strongest boxer in the IBA.PRO format. The question is whether the Uzbek side is willing to agree to a rematch if it wants to prove that Khalokov is truly the strongest in this weight category. I also spoke with Vsevolod Shumkov, and he is ready to fight a rematch anytime, anywhere. Moreover, Shumkov is prepared to hold the rematch in Tashkent,” Kravtsov said in an interview with Match TV.

For reference, on December 13 this year, Abdumalik Khalokov lost to Russia’s Vsevolod Shumkov in the controversial final of the 60 kg weight category at the IBA World Boxing Championships in Dubai. During the bout, Shumkov bit Khalokov.

It is worth noting that following an expert review and discussion of the incident, the IBA announced that the competition result would remain unchanged.
