Shavkat Mirziyoyev attends informal CIS summit

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on December 22, took part in an informal meeting of the heads of state of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) held at the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg.

The meeting was also attended by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.

During the meeting, participants reviewed the main results of joint work carried out over the past year and outlined priority objectives for the year ahead. They also exchanged views on pressing regional and international issues.

The importance of creating more favorable conditions to increase mutual trade, developing cooperation in the transport sector, encouraging growth in mutual investments and supporting cooperative projects, strengthening partnerships in energy and digitalization, expanding joint initiatives in science, education, culture, and the arts, as well as developing long-term cooperation between regions, was emphasized.

The leaders also noted the need to continue cultural and humanitarian exchanges among CIS countries, with particular attention to supporting the development of young people’s creative, innovative, and intellectual potential.

It is worth noting that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev did not attend the informal CIS summit held in St. Petersburg on December 22.
