Shabdanbekov appointed acting head of Kyrgyz security committee

Jumgalbek Shabdanbekov has been appointed acting Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, the presidential press service reported.
According to the statement, Shabdanbekov’s candidacy has been submitted to the Jogorku Kenesh for appointment as Chairman of the State Committee for National Security.
Shabdanbekov has served as head of the committee’s 9th Service and as deputy chairman since 2020. He is 55 years old and was awarded the rank of Major General in 2022.
Earlier, President Sadyr Japarov signed a decree terminating the powers of former committee chairman Kamchybek Tashiev ahead of schedule. The reasons for his dismissal have not yet been disclosed.
