Uzbek professional boxer Shahram Giyosov has been ordered by the World Boxing Association (WBA) to participate in a championship bout in his weight class.

The current WBA welterweight champion, Lithuanian Eimantas Stanionis, is set to defend his title against Giyosov, who is the mandatory challenger. The fighters' teams are now tasked with negotiating the date, location, and terms of the fight. Should they fail to reach an agreement, the matter will proceed to an open auction between the promoters.

In his most recent match, Giyosov triumphed over Mexican boxer Miguel Parra (22-4-1) after a 10-round contest, with two judges favoring Ghiyosov and one scoring in favor of Parra. This victory marked Ghiyosov’s 16th win in his professional boxing career.

For context, the 30-year-old Stanionis boasts an undefeated record with 15 professional wins, nine of which were by knockout. After a two-year break, Stanionis returned to the ring in May, where he secured a points victory (117-111, 118-110, 119-109) over 37-year-old Venezuelan Gabriel Maestre, handing Maestre his first career loss.
