Serdar Berdimuhammedov arrives in Tashkent

At the invitation of Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhammedov arrived in Tashkent today, November 16, on a state visit.

The Uzbek leader personally welcomed the high-level guest at Tashkent–Humo International Airport. The two presidents held a brief discussion at the airport, exchanging congratulations and views on key issues in bilateral relations.

Following this, the official welcoming ceremony for the Turkmen President took place.

The agenda for the high-level talks includes further developing and strengthening Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan strategic partnership, expanding multifaceted cooperation, with a focus on political, trade and economic, transport, water and energy, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.

During the visit, the leaders will also participate in the inauguration of the “Shovot-Toshovuz” cross-border trade zone and exchange views on international and regional issues. The summit is expected to conclude with a joint statement and the signing of a package of bilateral agreements.

President Berdimuhammedov will also participate in the Seventh Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Leaders.

Previously, it was reported that at the invitation of President Mirziyoyev, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev visited Tashkent as an honorary guest to participate in the same consultative meeting and met with the Uzbek President.

Additionally, Presidents Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan, and Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan also arrived in Tashkent to attend the Seventh Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Leaders, visiting the Islam Civilization Center and attending the award ceremony of the “Heritage of the Future” international prize.
