Uzbekistan’s U-17 champions receive presidential honors upon arrival

The Uzbekistan U-17 football team arrived in Tashkent around 8:00 pm local time after their victorious campaign in Saudi Arabia. They were greeted at the airport by government officials, family members, the public, and media representatives. As always, among the crowd was a key figure who typically belongs in the stands but never misses the chance to stand alongside the players.

During media interviews, head coach Islambek Ismoilov reflected on the challenges of building the current team, emphasizing the long journey and the hard work required to shape them into champions. He also shared his thoughts on the dramatic final match.

Team captain and standout player Sadriddin Khasanov, who scored a masterpiece goal in the final and was named the best player of the Asian Cup, also expressed his emotions and excitement.

As the team exited the airport terminal, Uzbekistan’s Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov read President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s congratulatory message to the champions.

Odil Abdurahmonov, head of the Presidential Administration’s department, announced the President’s decree on awarding the Asian Cup champions and participants. As part of the recognition, government officials presented the players with car keys—special gifts from the state.

One of the most thrilling moments unfolded as the players began searching for their designated cars. However, since they are only 17 years old and legally unable to drive, the champions handed their gifts over to their parents and loved ones.

With the celebrations behind them, the team now turns its focus to the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar this November. The players and coaches know that there is no time for excessive celebration—true success is measured in the fall.
