Uzbekistan’s U-17 national football team will play in the quarterfinals of the AFC Asian Cup today, May 16. The team, led by Sergey Chigodayev, will face South Korea for a place in the semifinals.
Uzbekistan’s youth team advanced to the quarterfinals as the leader of Group D after defeating India and Australia in the group stage.
South Korea reached the quarterfinals after finishing second in Group C with two draws and one win.
The teams last met in this age category in the summer of 2023, when South Korea claimed a narrow 1-0 victory. For reference, Uzbekistan’s U-17 national team is the reigning champion of the 2025 AFC Asian Cup in this age category.
