Sardor Umurzoqov undertakes Hajj pilgrimage

The former head of the Presidential Administration, Sardor Umurzoqov, who has been absent from the Presidential Administration and Government since August 2023, is currently on a Hajj pilgrimage. A photo of him in Makkah is circulating on social media, sparking widespread discussion.
Umurzoqov is staying at the "Al Ayam Elite" hotel with other Uzbek pilgrims and stated, "I came to perform the Hajj along with ordinary people."
It is reported that he was welcomed by Mufti Nuriddin Kholiqnazarov, Chairman of the Office of Muslims of Uzbekistan.
In July 2023, Sardor Umurzoqov accompanied President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on an Umrah pilgrimage while serving as the head of the Presidential Administration.
Appointed as head of the Presidential Administration on July 16, 2022, Umurzoqov was dismissed on August 17, 2023. The reasons for his removal were not disclosed, and the position was abolished following his departure.
Umurzoqov did not remain unemployed. He was appointed as a special adviser to the President on the same day but has not appeared in public since then.
