Uzbek football star Sanjar Tursunov announces retirement

Former Uzbekistan national team midfielder Sanjar Tursunov has officially retired from professional football at the age of 38. He shared the news with his fans via an announcement on his Instagram page.
“Today, I would like to announce that I have ended my professional football career. I would like to express my gratitude to the entire football community, the national team, and all the clubs I have played for during my career, as well as my coaches, teammates, and football fans,” Tursunov stated.
During his international career, Tursunov represented Uzbekistan in 50 matches and scored five goals. At the club level, he played for various teams, including Pakhtakor, Irtysh Omsk, Volga, Alaniya, Orenburg, Vorskla, Umm Salal, Al-Kharitiyat, Daejeon Citizen, Bunyodkor, OKMK, and Lokomotiv.
Tursunov's contribution to Uzbek football was widely recognized, and in 2012, he was named Uzbekistan’s Footballer of the Year.
