Due to the upcoming 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, which focuses on education, science, and culture, access roads to the city of Samarkand will be temporarily closed. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported this information.
According to the ministry, from October 30 to November 14 of this year, transit vehicles passing through the Samarkand region will be redirected to alternative routes. A special flyer has been prepared for this purpose, containing a QR code that allows drivers to view the detour routes through a mobile application.
“If you are planning to visit Samarkand on these dates, we kindly ask you to postpone your trip if possible,” the statement said.
For reference, the main topics of the conference include cultural preservation, the ethics of artificial intelligence, sustainable development, climate issues, creative industries, and the role of women in science. The event will take place at the Silk Road Samarkand tourist complex and will be the first UNESCO General Conference held outside Paris, where the organization’s headquarters are located, since 1985.
