Another victim has been found in the aftermath of a gas-air mixture flash that caused the collapse of a residential building in Samarkand city. This brings the total death toll to seven, as reported by Millar.
The incident occurred on May 9 at a house located on Spitamen Street in the Bogisaroy Industrial Complex of Samarkand. Following a report from the Emergency Situations Department, fire and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene. A kinetic explosion from a gas-air mixture caused the reinforced concrete structures of the building to collapse, damaging the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors as well as the basement. Fortunately, no fire broke out during the incident.
Initial reports confirmed the deaths of six people, but search and rescue efforts continued. As a result, a seventh body was recovered from under the rubble.
Authorities have stated that a preliminary investigation is currently underway, although no official cause has been confirmed yet.
This tragic incident comes just two days after another deadly event in the Samarkand region. On May 7, a ZIL truck caught fire at a gas station in the Kattakurgan district, killing two people and injuring one. The hospitalized victim later died on May 9, raising the death toll to three.
