Hacker deceives prominent businessmen in Samarkand

A 20-year-old individual has been sentenced to 1 year and 7 months in prison for exploiting the Telegram accounts of prominent businessmen in the Samarkand region to defraud them of substantial amounts of money. This information was provided by Aziz Obidov, Press Secretary of the Supreme Court.

It was reported that the young man created a page with the names of businessmen and posted their photos on their profiles. He then obtained the contact details of employees working for these entrepreneurs.

"I used to observe and follow their profiles. Instagram profiles would disappear. I also watched their interviews. I acquired their pictures from Instagram. I sent the names and profiles of the entrepreneurs to their managers and employees. No one questioned the purpose of the money and simply transferred it," the young man stated.

The accused young man recorded the card numbers of individuals who were involved in the smoke screen operation and subsequently withdrew the funds. As a result, the young hacker accumulated a total of 36 million soums from one businessman and 43 million soums from another.

"According to a message from our leader, we were instructed to collect money. I complied and returned the money. In total, I transferred 43 million soums," stated an employee of the affected businessman.

During the court proceedings related to the case, the young man claimed that he had lost money through online gambling. After his actions were uncovered, he sold his residence and reimbursed the businessmen for the losses incurred.

The court sentenced the young man to 1 year and 7 months of imprisonment under Part 3 of Article 168 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to fraud committed by a repeat or dangerous recidivist.

It is worth noting that a previous report from Tashkent indicated the arrest of a woman who had transferred 90 thousand dollars to a Nigerian "relative.”
