Authorities in Namangan and Samarkand regions have uncovered cases of natural gas theft amounting to 2.1 billion sums. The Ministry of Energy reported these incidents following raids conducted by regional gas supply branches.

In Namangan, employees of the “Hududgaz Namangan” gas supply branch discovered that a resident of Namangan city, identified as Z.R., had set up a bakery in his apartment and illegally connected to the natural gas network for commercial purposes. The unauthorized connection caused damage to the state totaling 362.5 million sums.

In the Samarkand region, investigators found that a bakery owned by the “S.Sh.” family enterprise in the Toylok district was similarly connected to the gas network without authorization, resulting in the theft of natural gas valued at 1.3 billion sums.

Additionally, a resident of the Pastdargam district, A.M., was found to have established a greenhouse in his apartment and secretly tapped into the natural gas network. This act caused damages amounting to 462.7 million sums.

Authorities have initiated pre-investigation proceedings in all these cases to hold the offenders accountable.

It is worth noting that a similar case of gas theft worth 1.329 billion sums was previously reported at another bakery in the Toylok district of Samarkand.
