5 people die from alcohol poisoning in Samarkand

Reports circulating on social media claimed that 13 people in the Samarkand region had died from alcohol poisoning after consuming homemade alcohol. To clarify the situation, QALAMPIR.UZ reached out to Hayot Shamsutdinov, the press secretary of the Prosecutor General's Office.
According to preliminary information, five individuals died on January 11, 2025, in Samarkand due to alcohol poisoning. The victims, identified as A.M., J.B., V.B., O.T., and A.U., were mostly individuals known to have consumed alcohol. Four of the victims passed away at their homes, while A.U. died in the hospital despite receiving medical assistance.
Authorities have announced that additional details will be provided as the investigation continues.
It is important to note that earlier, five people in the Andijan region also died from alcohol poisoning.
