Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Saidov reported about the meeting on his Telegram channel.

According to Saidov, the two sides discussed key issues in bilateral relations, including trade, investment, education, and cultural cooperation, as well as main areas of multilateral collaboration within international organizations.

“Our meeting confirmed our firm commitment to further deepening the dialogue between Uzbekistan and Ukraine, strengthening the partnership, and opening up new opportunities in the interests of our peoples,” Saidov stated.

Sybiga also confirmed the meeting on his Facebook page and described the conversation as friendly.

“We agreed to resume political dialogue and expand bilateral and multilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Ukraine is committed to developing relations with Uzbekistan and strengthening ties with Central Asia,” Sybiga wrote.

It should be noted that earlier it was reported that 13 citizens of Uzbekistan were being exploited in harsh conditions as “slaves” in one of the greenhouses in Ukraine’s Kyiv region. Following this, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Ukraine sent official notes to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine regarding the situation.
