13262Saidaziz Saidaliyev, widely known as “Saidaziz Medgorodok,” has been sentenced in another extortion case. QALAMPIR.UZ reviewed the official court ruling.
According to the verdict issued by the Yunusabad District Criminal Court on October 29, 2024, Saidaliyev, in collusion with I.S. and other individuals, visited a residence in the Nodira neighborhood of Yashnabad district in early January 2023. They confronted a man identified as B.K., accusing him of owing $700,000 to a former business partner.
When B.K. resisted, Saidaliyev used a knife and a pistol to threaten him, warning that he would inflict serious harm on his health, family, and business if the demanded amount was not paid. The incident escalated, and Saidaliyev reportedly fired his weapon, killing B.K., in what was classified as an act of extortion.
During the court hearing, both Saidaliyev and I.S. denied the charges, claiming they did not commit extortion and pleading for a fair judgment.
However, B.K. and another victim, D.B., testified that the defendants had threatened them with a knife and a pistol and warned of possible gunfire.
The court found Saidaliyev guilty under Article 165, Part 3, Subparagraphs "a, v" of Uzbekistan's Criminal Code, which pertains to extortion involving large sums and crimes committed by or in the interest of an organized group. He was sentenced to 20 years and 6 months in prison, with partial consideration of time already served under a previous sentence imposed by the Yunusabad District Court on August 5, 2024. His sentence will be served in a general-regime correctional facility.
Co-defendant I.S. was also found guilty under the same article. He was sentenced to 5 years and 3 months in prison, with partial addition of time served under the previous sentence issued on August 5, 2024. He will likewise serve his sentence in a general-regime colony.
