On June 23, in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand region, Saida Mirziyoyeva—the eldest daughter of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Assistant to the President—met with Navid Hanif, the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Development. She shared news of the meeting via her official Telegram channel.
According to her post, the main focus of the discussion was the outcomes of the Global Forum on Civil Service, which was held in Uzbekistan for the first time.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the effectiveness of ongoing reforms, the digitalization process, and strategic plans under the “Uzbekistan–2030” agenda. They also discussed potential areas of future cooperation, including youth support, development of digital skills, expanding opportunities for women, and greater involvement of Uzbek specialists in UN-led initiatives.
Environmental concerns were also addressed. The sides discussed plans for establishing the International Climate Academy and efforts to restore the Aral Sea region.
“In today’s unstable world, the most important thing is to learn to listen to each other. The UN serves as a platform for open dialogue and collective problem-solving. We have many new ideas and projects ahead, and we are ready to implement them together,” Mirziyoyeva wrote.
It is worth noting that the Global Forum on Civil Service recently began in the Samarkand region, with Saida Mirziyoyeva actively participating in the event.
