Rustam Jo‘rayev appointed head of the Presidential State Security Service

Rustam Mirzayevich Jo‘rayev has been appointed Chairman of the State Security Service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and awarded the special rank of lieutenant general. The relevant decree was signed by the President of Uzbekistan.
For reference, Rustam Jo‘rayev was born on July 26, 1968, in Tashkent. He studied at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Prior to this appointment, he also served as Minister of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan. From February 2018 to March 2020, he held the position of Head of the Tashkent City Main Department of Internal Affairs and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.
Since January this year, he had been serving as the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan and Head of the Department of Public Security.
It is worth noting that earlier, Alisher Usmonov, who had served as Head of the Presidential State Security Service since December 2020, was dismissed from his position.
