Rustam Umarov meets with South Korean president

5854On November 27, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol hosted Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustam Umarov in Seoul. The meeting focused on addressing the implications of military cooperation between Russia and North Korea.
President Yoon emphasized the importance of developing practical responses to security threats posed by the deployment of North Korean troops to Russia, highlighting that such collaboration impacts both South Korea and Ukraine.
Additionally, the Ukrainian delegation, which included representatives from the Ministries of Defense, Foreign Affairs, and Economy, met with key South Korean officials Shin Won-sik, head of the National Security Agency, and Kim Yong-hyun, Minister of Defense.
"South Korea highly values the establishment of close communication and cooperation with Ukraine through multiple channels," the report states.
President Yoon previously stated that South Korea will not remain indifferent to the situation in Ukraine. He affirmed Seoul's readiness to take appropriate measures, including the possibility of providing weapons to Ukraine. He also called North Korea's military support for Russia a provocation that threatens not only the Korean Peninsula but global security, including Europe.
