The procedure for using national driver’s licenses in Russia is changing. For this reason, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation has issued a warning.
According to recent changes in Russian legislation on the recognition of foreign driver’s licenses, holders of valid national driver’s licenses from the Republic of Uzbekistan are allowed to drive vehicles personally within the territory of the Russian Federation.
At the same time, to engage in professional activities in Russia—such as working as a taxi driver, transporting goods, or carrying passengers—obtaining a Russian driver’s license is mandatory. This requires foreign drivers to go through the prescribed procedure.
It is worth noting that earlier, St. Petersburg authorities announced plans to extend until 2026 the ban on working as taxi or courier drivers for labor migrants, even if they have work permits.
