A 23-year-old Uzbek worker died at a construction site in St. Petersburg, Russia, on September 16 of this year. This was reported by the press service of the Northwestern Interregional Labor Inspectorate of Russia.
It was noted that on Dobrolyubov Avenue, during the construction of the building for the Supreme Court of Russia and the Judicial Department under the Supreme Court, the 23-year-old Uzbek worker, while working on scaffolding, fell from a height of 15 meters and died at the scene. It was found that the deceased worker had no official employment documents with the construction company.
According to Olga Kazanskaya, Deputy Head of the Northwestern Interregional Labor Inspectorate, the probable causes of the incident were the worker’s failure to use personal protective equipment, the absence of collective protective measures, and inadequate organization of work at height.
It is worth noting that earlier, a 30-year-old Uzbek man died after being trapped under a rock mass at a mine in the Kuraginsky district of Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia.
