Ministry denies reports of new virus outbreak at Pediatric Center

Social media is reporting that the Republican Pediatric Center is full of sick children, some of whom have contracted the new virus. The Ministry of Health has commented on this situation.

The Ministry clarified that the circulating information about children being infected with metapneumovirus is completely unfounded.

On New Year's Eve, preventive cleaning and disinfection work was carried out in five departments of the Republican Specialized Pediatric Scientific and Practical Medical Center – Infant Care, Pathology and Resuscitation of Infants, Hepatology, Nephrology, and General Pediatrics. All of these departments reopened today, January 6, which has led to a relative increase in the flow of patients.

Additionally, the center is not specialized in receiving or treating patients with infectious diseases mentioned in the social media messages. The Ministry of Health urged social media users to refrain from spreading unfounded and unverified information.

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Health previously reported a seasonal increase in acute respiratory infections in Uzbekistan. Laboratory tests conducted across the country revealed that 39.9% of cases involved influenza virus, 32.2% rhinovirus, 30.6% respiratory syncytial virus, and 1.2% metapneumovirus.
