Ramadan in Uzbekistan will begin on 19 February this year. This is stated in the presidential resolution of Shavkat Mirziyoyev titled “On the Proper Observance of the Holy Month of Ramadan.”
In order to properly welcome and observe Ramadan — whose role and significance in social and spiritual life continue to grow — and to preserve and promote religious, educational and cultural values, the information of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan confirming that the holy month of Ramadan in 2026 will begin on 19 February has been accepted for consideration.
The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional and Tashkent city administrations, together with the Committee for Religious Affairs, the Mahalla Association of Uzbekistan, the National Agency for Social Protection, the Nuroniy Foundation for Supporting the Social Activities of Veterans of Uzbekistan and other partner organisations, will implement measures to observe Ramadan in accordance with national traditions and values.
Based on the noble idea that “Ramadan is a month of compassion, solidarity and gratitude,” special attention will be given to supporting low-income and vulnerable people, strengthening mutual respect, unity and justice within neighbourhoods, protecting land, water, air and the natural environment, improving holy sites, shrines and cemeteries, and organising Ramadan-related events in a modest, meaningful and cost-efficient manner without extravagance.
Earlier, the Council of Muslim Religious Administrations of the member states of the Organisation of Turkic States also announced that Ramadan would begin on 19 February this year. It was additionally reported that Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on Friday, 20 March.
