In Uzbekistan, financial assistance will be provided to vulnerable residents in connection with the holy month of Ramadan. This is stated in the presidential resolution “On measures for state social support of vulnerable populations during the blessed month of Ramadan,” adopted on February 17.
According to the resolution, a one-time payment of 1 million soums will be provided to the following categories:
- Families listed in the Social Register under the “state-supported families” category;
- Citizens listed in the register of single elderly people, persons with disabilities, and individuals in need of care;
- Families raising orphans and children deprived of parental care.
A one-time payment of 500,000 soums will be provided to families listed in the Social Register under the “low-income families” category, as well as to additional vulnerable families identified by local neighborhood committees.
Medical treatment and surgical expenses for 6,000 patients from families in the Social Register will also be covered.
The one-time financial assistance will be transferred to social cards or bank cards of eligible families by March 1, 2026, based on approved lists.
Earlier, it was reported that 750 billion soums would be allocated to the Waqf Public Charity Foundation and 300 billion soums through the National Agency for Social Protection to support vulnerable populations during Ramadan.
