Over 616,000 families in Uzbekistan receive 422.4 billion soums during Ramadan

More than 616,000 low-income families in Uzbekistan received a total of 422.4 billion soums in financial assistance during Ramadan this year, according to the National Agency for Social Protection.
The payments are being made in stages in accordance with the presidential decree “On Measures for State Social Support of Needy Population During the Holy Month of Ramadan,” aimed at supporting vulnerable groups.
It was reported that in the first stage, 422.4 billion soums were distributed to 616,305 families.
In particular:
225,541 families received financial assistance of 1 million soums each, including:
— 207,661 families receiving state support;
— 3,848 families raising orphans or children deprived of parental care;
— 17,032 elderly individuals living alone and persons with disabilities requiring care.
Additionally, 387,764 low-income families received 500,000 soums each.
In the second stage, financial assistance will be provided to families whose lists are being additionally compiled and whose documents are under review.
“The process of providing financial assistance is continuing based on the principles of transparency and targeted support,” the statement said.
Earlier, it was reported that 750 billion soums would be allocated to the “Vaqf” Public Charity Foundation and 300 billion soums through the National Agency for Social Protection to support vulnerable populations during Ramadan. In this regard, Uzbekistan’s religious scholars sent a letter of gratitude to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
