Tarawih prayers to be held in more than 2,000 mosques during Ramadan

Starting tomorrow, 18 February, Tarawih prayers will be held in more than 2,000 mosques across the country, the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

The prayers will begin after 20:30, and around one million citizens are expected to participate each day.

To ensure public safety during this period, nearly 20,000 personnel from the Internal Affairs bodies, the National Guard and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as military servicemen, will be deployed. Mosques have been equipped with CCTV cameras connected to the monitoring and coordination centre of the Public Security Department.

In addition, about 2,500 road patrol officers will be on duty to ensure road safety. Traffic will be temporarily restricted on some streets near mosques, special barriers will be installed at entrances, and dedicated parking areas will be organised 150 metres away. More than 200 units of special equipment will be deployed for emergency situations.

Earlier, it was reported that Ramadan in Uzbekistan will begin on 19 February this year.

It was also announced that during Ramadan, 750 billion soums will be allocated to the Waqf Public Charity Foundation and 300 billion soums through the National Agency for Social Protection to support vulnerable populations.
