Putin briefs Mirziyoyev on talks with US

On August 8, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the press services of both leaders.

The two presidents discussed pressing bilateral and international issues. Putin informed Mirziyoyev about the results of his August 6 talks in Moscow with US President’s Special Representative Stephen Witkoff.

According to the Kremlin press service, Mirziyoyev expressed appreciation for the information on the talks and voiced support for efforts to find political and diplomatic solutions to the Ukrainian crisis.

“In line with high-level agreements, the sides discussed practical steps to further develop and strengthen the Uzbek-Russian comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance. Particular attention was given to increasing mutual trade and investment, advancing cooperation projects in priority economic sectors, and taking coordinated measures to maintain productive ties, as well as business and humanitarian exchanges at the regional level,” the press service of the President of Uzbekistan stated.

The leaders also reviewed the schedule of upcoming meetings and events.
