When does early voting begin in the Presidential Election of Uzbekistan?

5208The Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan has announced that early voting for the upcoming presidential election will commence on June 28 and conclude on July 5. This decision was made during a meeting held on June 20, where various aspects related to the election process were discussed.
Among the topics addressed at the meeting were the organization of early voting for eligible voters, ensuring public order and safety during the election, handling appeals received by the Central Election Commission, and the participation of international organizations and media representatives. These matters were carefully considered to guarantee a smooth and fair election.
According to the decision reached, early voting will be conducted at designated polling stations to accommodate individuals who cannot be present at their registered place of residence on the official election day, as specified in the Election Code. The early voting period is set to begin on June 28, 2023, and conclude on July 5, 2023. Polling stations will be open for voters from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays, with adjusted hours of 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
The meeting also addressed measures to uphold public order and ensure the safety of all participants throughout the electoral process. Specific tasks were assigned to units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, National Guard, and Ministry of Emergency Situations to fulfill these responsibilities. This decision aims to create a secure environment for voters to exercise their democratic right.
Furthermore, the Central Election Commission accredited 39 observers from foreign countries and international organizations to oversee the electoral proceedings. Additionally, 300 representatives from local media outlets were granted accreditation, bringing the total number of accredited media representatives, both domestic and international, to 854.
