6042The President expressed his condolences on the death of Naim Karimov. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his condolences on the passing of academician Naim Karimov. This information was reported by the press secretary of the head of state.
The renowned scientist and academician of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Naim Karimov, passed away on September 17 of this year at the age of 91. Naim Karimov was born on December 12, 1932, in Tashkent. In 1955, he graduated from the State University of Central Asia (now the National University of Uzbekistan, named after Mirzo Ulugbek) and pursued further studies at the graduate school of this institution.
A diligent and dedicated scientist, he commenced his career in 1958 as a junior researcher at the Institute of Language and Literature of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan (now the Institute of Uzbek Language, Literature, and Folklore). Over the course of his extensive scientific and creative career, he held positions as a senior and leading researcher and eventually became the head of a department at the same institute. In 1962, he successfully defended his candidacy, and in 1993, he earned his doctoral thesis. From 2002 to 2008, he served as the chairman of the charity fund "Memorial of Martyrs" and the head of the museum "Memorial of Repression Victims." Since 2008, he worked as a leading researcher at this museum.
"Naim Karimov conducted extensive fundamental research on the study of Uzbek literature of the 20th century and established a unique school in this field. His contributions include numerous monographs, research papers, educational novels, over a thousand scientific articles, as well as several textbooks and study manuals dedicated to the lives and works of enlightened modernists and renowned figures in Uzbek literature of the 20th century," stated the President's press service.
In recognition of his many years of dedicated service in the field of science, Naim Karimov was elected as a full member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017.
Apart from translating a variety of works from world literature into Uzbek, the scientist was actively involved in the production of approximately twenty documentaries on historical topics. Under his direct guidance, numerous candidates in the field of sciences and doctors were trained.
Naim Karimov received prestigious honors such as the honorary title of "Scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan," "Honored Youth Coach of the Republic of Uzbekistan," and the State Prize of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
"The memory of Naim Karimov, a distinguished scientist, a compassionate teacher, and a humble individual, will forever be cherished in our hearts," the message concluded.
In addition to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Norboeva, Chairman of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis Nuriddin Ismailov, Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, and others also extended their condolences.
